Transcription and translation of audio and video files in a range of file formats is a branch of translation service that is widely expanding.
Basically, transcription and translation involves our translators watching or listening to your recording and writing down the dialog, in the same language as it is. The next stage is to translate that text into the target language you require.
The most common requirement for transcription and translation comes from the legal profession, when someone is interviewed in their native language but the court will require this in another language.

How much will it cost?

As we’ve explained transcription and translation is a longer process than just translation. To reflect this we charge for transcription as follows:
£107.00 per half hour of source audio or video - plus our normal translation cost.

Translation charges

As its difficult to know how many words are used in the audio or video until it have been transcribed but we can approximately estimate that in English a recorded interview of 1 hour between 2 people would generate around 6000 spoken words, and a dictated piece of audio would generate between 8,000 and 10,000 spoken words.
These figures are based on English, but some other languages such as German use longer words and so may have fewer words per hour. Japanese, however, generally uses shorter words and therefore the spoken word count is more likely to be higher.

What type of files can we transcribe?
